Just wanted to let you guys know that I've had summer school for the past two weeks and for the oncoming two weeks. That's not really getting in my way of things, since I'm usually not up on a normal summer day by the time I wake up for summer school. I have been working on some development stuff for the Vrenzie concept. I've made new characters, sketched concepts for a sort of supply system, and I'm also planning on making a prologue comic for Vrenzie. The idea is that I'll eventually make the game once I have a team for game development, but the prologue comic will be a sneak peek at some of the characters.
Also, I'll fully explain what Vrenzie is:
What I plan for Vrenzie being is a CoD Zombies-esque style game (either twin-stick or FPS) where you survive wave after wave of the undead. The idea behind this is that it's a whole game designed after the Zombies style, so there's a little more to it than just the maps being secluded to themselves. I plan for there being a small campaign mode with the Subjects, quite a few maps made by the team themselves, featured player made maps of the week, Air Drops (Supply Drops, BUT FAIR LIKE SERIOUSLY), gun/gun variant crafting, and, as a bonus, a Tony Hawk's style create-a-character.
The campaign plans to explain how the undead apocalypse began and the events that lead up to it. Simple as that.
Each developer-made map will have a major Easter Egg to continue the story off from the campaign. I mention this because I'm also plan on making it to where you can play as any character from any map on any map - the only catch is that you can't do the map's Easter Egg unless you play as the map's characters.
Another point about the maps is that there will be free downloadable content, and there will be paid downloadable content. There will be, of course, a Season Pass for the paid DLC, and the free DLC will provide some fun for those who can't afford the paid content.
There will be a map maker that allows the user to make maps using either the game's textures/resources, their own textures/resources, or a mix of the two. The map maker will be up for a month before the Weekly Featured Maker Map will start up to allow people to truly experiment with the maps. The Weekly Featured Maker Map will be voted by the community out of a set of 5. Voters get a free Common Air Drop, and the creators of each map in the vote will get a Rare Air Drop. The winner will, of course, get their map feature in the Weekly Featured Maker Map, as well as an Ultra-Rare Air Drop and an exclusive character customization. Playing for the first time on these maps will reward you with a Common Air Drop and surviving up to 20 rounds rewards you with an Ultra-Rare Air Drop.
The gun crafting system goes hand-in-hand with both the maps and the Air Drops: certain maps have specific gun parts to make specific guns or gun variants, and so do the Air Drops. The idea is that this will get you to explore the map to get a better weapon for survival rather than camping in a specific spot. The system is also as easy as having either nothing or a base gun and then combining 3 parts to make a weapon or adding 1-3 parts to make a variant.
Getting onto what are Air Drops are exactly, they are, like I said, like CoD's Supply Drop system, but more fair. There are two ways to obtain these Air Drops: either earning them every 4 rounds in a map or by buying them in the in-game store. There are three tiers of Air Drops, as well: Common, Rare, and Ultra-Rare. Commons are the cheapest at $0.10, Rares are $0.50, and Ultra-Rares are the most expensive at $1.25. Earning them is simple. Usually, the 4-round cycle goes from Common, Rare, and Ultra-Rare. This means that you can earn one of each type for free as long as you are at least decent at survival. There will be events, however, that change the cycle into something like Rare, Rare, Common, Ultra-Rare. These events will also include special themes for Air Drops, much like how Modern Warfare Remastered has different Supply Drop themes for the different weapons and camos. I'm thinking of also incorporating a way to let you sell the Air Drops you get for either full or half price.
The character creator is also, like I said, a Tony-Hawk's style character where you use preset graphics or characters and make the, your own. It, unfortunately, won't be included until the second paid DLC is released, as there won't be too many options for character creation until then. You will, however, be able to make a custom emblem to show off when you get a streak of kills, etc.
And that's that for what I have for Vrenzie at this point. There are some other ideas and concepts I have, but I don't know if I'll put them in.
